Governor’s Cup 1st Leg: LG Election Forces Finals To Sunday
Local Government election which comes up tomorrow in Lagos State has forced the organisers of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship to shift the finals of the first leg to Sunday.
According to the Director of the championship sponsored by Etisalat and FCMB, Prince Wale Oladunjoye, the restriction of movement as ordered by the state government won’t allow matches to be played at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Court, Onikan, tomorrow hence the shifting of the finals to Sunday. The women’s singles final will come up by 1p.m, while the men’s final will be played from 3p.m.
According to Oladunjoye, who is also the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Raji Fashola, “the finals of the second leg, which will take place on 29 October, will be a beehive of activities with the presence of Governor Fashola and his state executive council members as well as top officials of the sponsors’ companies. About 6,000 people are expected at the venue and we are planning a big ceremony to round off the 11th edition of the tournament this year.â€
