I’ll Make MAN World Class
The acting rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, MAN, Oron, Mr. Joshua Okpo, has promised to see the academy evolve into a world class institute for training higher standard sailors and allied professionals in the maritime, oil and gas sectors.
Okpo said this during the entrance examination officiated by some staff of the academy for National Diploma programme students.
According to the acting Rector, the academy is blessed with both human and material resources that can be harnessed for positive growth and development of the nation’s Maritime industry.
He reiterated the readiness of his management team in line with the International Maritime Organisation, IMO, to expose the academy’s cadets to the mandatory sea time in conformity with global standard.
“We also want to add more value to our certificates by adopting the IMO syllabus to further boost the certificates of competency being issued by NIMASA and increase the chance of both local and international job placements for our cadets.
“We are trying to create a hitch-free learning, teaching and working and nonteaching staff of the academy.
“We have been able to address the problems of power supply, water on campus and we are in the process of building a better relationship between the academy and communities around it,†Okpo stated.
