Nurtw Lagos Exco Dissolved

The National Headquarters of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has dissolved the Lagos State executive council of the union.

The National Headquarters at a meeting of all the stakeholders decided to dissolve the state exco to pave way for a peaceful election at a future date.

Consequently, a 7-man committee has been set up to supervise the affairs.

The committee is headed by Comrade Akinwale James, others are Tolani Adebayo, Alhaji Taofiq Balogun, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, Isreal Popoola, Alhaji Taofiq Oluwa and Alhaji Mukaila Runsewe.

The terms of refrence include: to undertake general administration of the union in Lagos State pending the reconstitution of the state executive council; to ensure smooth running of union affairs in all branches of the union in the state; to prepare grounds for the smooth and peaceful reconstitution of the state council and to set in motion machinery to reconcile all issues of discontentment among union members in the state for industrial peace and harmony.

Others are to prepare grounds for the smooth and peaceful reconstitution of the state council; to report any issues which could not be amicably resolved by the committee to national secretariat of the union for advice and directives and any other lawful duties would be assigned to the committee by the national secretariat of the union when the need arises.
