Senator Tutare Rejects Removal Of Fuel Subsidy

Senator Abubakar Tutare representing Taraba Central Senatorial District has rejected plan by the Federal Government to remove fuel subsidy.

Tutare (PDP-Taraba) told newsmen on Monday in Jalingo that the removal would compound the hardship on Nigerians.

He wondered why Nigerian refineries could not be put to use, so that the country would stop importing oil.

“There is a clique of few that are siphoning money meant for subsidy.

“Government should rather manage the subsidy by blocking the leakages instead of removing it.

“If you remove fuel subsidy, what are you going to do with the money?

“What are we giving to the people? We are not giving them enough power, potable water. So there is no point removing it,” he said.

Speaking on the collapsed bridges in the state, the Senator said that colonial bridges were not supposed to be in use in the country anymore.

“Some of these bridges are older than us here, therefore, they have no reason to still be in existence,” he said.
