Arowolo To Appear In Court Tomorrow

A murder suspect, Akolade Arowolo, will appear on 26 October, 2011 before a Yaba chief magistrate’s Court on a holden charge over his alleged murder of his banker wife, Mrs. Titilayo Arowolo, 29, on 24 June, 2011.

At the last mention of the case on 9 September, 2011, the trial magistrate, Mrs. Demi Ajayi, said she adjourned the case for the case file to be sent to the office of the Director of public prosecution, DPP, for advice.

The late Titilayo Arowolo was stabbed to death on 24 June, 2011 at their residence in Isolo, Lagos. Her husband was later arrested and charged to court.

Meanwhile, a human rights group on domestic violence, Project Alert has called on the judiciary to ensure that justice is done in the matter.

According to the executive chairman of the group, Mrs. Josephine Chukwuemeka, Arowolo should be made to serve as a deterrent to other inhumane and cruel husbands who visit domestic violence on women and young girls. This, according to her, is to give the female folks a sense of belonging in all spheres of life.

Also, Mrs. Stella Damasus called on women to ‘shine their eyes’ before entering into marriage, saying: “Marriage should not be a death sentence to anyone but should be enjoyed by both parties irrespective of their cultural differences.”
