‘Female President Will Solve Nigeria’s Problems’

Chairman of the South West zone of Organisation of African Instituted Churches, OAIC, Archbishop Magnus Adeyemi Atilade at his induction ceremony recently declared that Nigeria may not witness peace until a female president is produced, a statement he initially made some 15 years ago.

The induction ceremony for the newly elected officers took place at the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, upon which His most Rev. (Dr.) Daniel C Okoh, the International and Regional President of OAIC officiated.

According to Archbishop Atilade, “people should stop saying that women are only meant for the kitchen alone. If we look critically at the crimes record in Nigeria and even in the whole world 90 per cent of crimes are committed by men and looking at the population of the world, women are more than men. These days, do we not have women in all professional fields? They are competing favourably with men in Nigeria and the world at large.”

He pleaded with Nigerians to cooperate with President Goodluck Jonathan.

Among notable Nigerans who attended the official induction ceremony were the Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Grace Titilayo Laoye, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, who was represented by Rev. Dr. Adefunmilayo Akitoye Braimoh, Mr. Cyprian Agbazue, President of International Foundation for Christian Unity, IFCU among many others.

In a speech delivered by the Osun State Deputy Governor, Rauf Aregbesola quoted from the German sociologist, Max Webber, who first coined the term Protestant World Ethics which included certain values like hard work, honesty and integrity, which still exist in predominantly protestant countries in Europe and America, and laid the foundation of economic prosperity in those countries.

The Lagos State governor stated that the church must continue to utilize its platform to promote the socio economic development of Lagos State and the country in general.
