2 Drown, 8 Rescued In Boat Mishap

A commercial speed boat conveying passengers from Kirikiri waterside to Aloro village recently capsized midstream.

P.M.NEWS learnt that two of the 10 passengers were drowned while eight were rescued.

The drowned passengers, according to eye witnesses, were identified as Jimmy and Segun as their other names were not known.

The incident was reported to the police at Marine Police Station and officers from the station took the corpses to the mortuary for autopsy.

Similarly, there was a report at Aswani Police Station that a yet to be identified driver of a commercial bus marked KX348 KJA drove recklessly and hit a female pedestrian close to PZ company along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed him dead.

Traffic policemen later visited the scene and took the corpse to a public mortuary.

While confirming the two incidents the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu(DSP), advised members of the public to be careful while driving.

He also advised speed boat drivers to ensure that their boats are always in good condition before embarking on any journey as the lives of their passengers are in their hands, adding that since life has no duplicate it must be handled with care.
