463 Remance Cultism At ANSU

This was disclosed to journalists on Monday at a news conference at Uli campus by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Fidelis Okafor.

He said the cheering news was the outcome of a moral- re-awakening programme held recently on the campus and expects more positive changes in the students. That many blamed wrong friends, misconception, wrong precepts, pride, misinformation and peer pressure for joining the cults in the first instance.

In its efforts to drastically reduce social tension created by financial hardships among its students, the authorities have established what it christened Indigent Students Fund (ISF) as part of its student’s aids programmes.

Okafor disclosed that the fund was established to assist needy brilliant indigent students to ensure they do not drop out of school due to their financial incapacity. The programme is being funded by public-spirited individuals and corporate organizations in conjunction with the university management.

A forum for regular interaction between the management and students of the institution has also been established, to listen to them, their needs, expectations and complaints generally with a view to solving them.

The Vice Chancellor admitted that more hostels were now being constructed within the two campuses to enable a closer community relationship where students get trained in both character and learning. According to him, research has shown that students who live on campus perform better in academic and leadership generally.
