Comedy Meets Music At Harp Rhythm Unplugged

Away from the usual Boko Haram and MEND threats, residents of Abuja had something to be excited about recently, when notable Nigerian entertainers stormed Thisday Dome for the first leg of the yearly music and comedy concert, Harp Rhythm Unplugged.

An initiative of Flytime Entertainment, the show got a boost this year with the coming of Guinness Nigeria Plc as lead sponsors, through its Harp brand, thereby providing financial backing for the show, which has become a major part of the country’s events calendar.

For fear of insecurity, the organisers initially toyed with the idea of postponing the already widely publicised concert, but for the tenacity of Cecil Hammond, CEO of Flytime, who would not take anything less than success, ‘the show must go on.’

Fun lovers in the federal capital made their way to the Dome where the DJ had been blasting out music through gigantic woofers positioned at strategic corners. Anchored by Ik Osakioduwa of the Big Brother Africa fame, the stage came alive with comedy performances by some upcoming acts, who actually stood their ground in a show that had some of the best, including I Go Dye, Bovi and Seyi Law. They all wowed the crowd with their jaw breaking jokes.

Just like the comedians, top music stars later rocked the stage with A-class performances from the likes of Tiwa Savage, who rocked the stage alongside her new dancers, to Flavour, Afro Highlife singer. All the way from the Garden City, Port Harcourt, Duncan Mighty raised the concert to another level, with the audience jumping from one seat to another in excitement.

After Duncan Mighty, the concert turned to Mo Hits affair, with Wande Coal, who took the crowd back the memory lane with tracks from his debut work.
