Governor’s Cup 2nd Leg: Nigerian Players Face Tough Opponents
Three Nigerian players who booked their ways to the second round of the second leg of the ongoing Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship are poised to face stiff opposition in the second leg today at the Lagos Tennis Club, Onikan.

Shehu Lawal and Clifford Enosoregbe, who secured their second round tickets courtesy of the retirement of their compatriots, Candy Idoko and Kingsley Enosoregbe due to injury, will face first leg runner up and number 4 seed, Ruan Roelofse of South Africa and Ranjeet Virali-Muguresan of India, the number 7 seed, respectively.
Mbanu Onyeka, who beat Filenkov Alexei of Russia 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-2 in the first round will play against Pavic Ante of Croatia.
Other second round matches that would be played today in the Etisalat/ FCMB sponsored ITF tourney, involves top seed in the men’s singles, Slovakian Kamil Capkovic and Yusuke Watanuki of Japan. Ivorian Terence Nugent battles Vishnu Vardhan of India.
In the women’s singles, top seed, Bratchikova will settle scores with Vekic Donna of Croatia, Switzerland’s Conny Perrin will play American teenager, Vickery Sachia, Tamaryn Hendler of Belgium takes on Indian Nidhi Chilumula, Elina Svitolina of Ukraine plays Agnes Szatmari of Romania, while South African Natasha Fourouclas battles Russian Ksenia Lykina.
