Firm Partners FRSC On Kids’ Safety

Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell milk, is partnering the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Federal Ministry of Education to kit about 500,000 school children in the 20 local government areas of Ogun State with the FRSC customised reflective armbands and jackets tagged “Be seen, be safe”.

The FMCG Company supported the initiative with the donation of 700 armbands and jackets last Friday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital at the launch of a N200 million appeal fund by the FRSC.

The FRSC and the Federal Ministry of Education conceived the FRSC Children Accident Prevention Initiative (CAPI) with the objective to reach out to school children in order to save them from reckless drivers and motor cycle riders. The programme had been launched in Abuja and Lagos State.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Olusegun Boladale, Administrative and Facilities Manager, Promasidor, said the lives and well-being of children is of utmost concern to the company, adding that the company is interested in their welfare.

He said the company is always interested in children and has been organising events for them because they are our future.

Earlier, Mr. Alfred Adeboye, the Sector Commander of Ogun Command of the FRSC the CAPI was born out of the genuine concern of the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the FRSC, Osita Chidoka, for children.

He explained that the children are supposed to be the future leaders of the country, saying that a situation where 42 per cent of road accident victims are children calls for greater attention of all and sundry.

The sector commander said CAPI in its efforts to provide necessary protection for children as they go and return from school on daily basis, is saying that reflective material must be worn on top of school uniforms by pupils.
