Pregnant Woman Dies After Scuffle With Husband

Police detectives attached to Ajuwon Police Division in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria have arrested a carpenter, Femi Kolawole whose pregnant wife Wunmi reportedly died a few hours after a brawl.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the couple engaged in a scuffle at their Ogo Ire Akari, Ijeja, Matogun, Ogun State on Sunday.

After the fight, the late Wumi started bleeding profusely and she was rushed to a hospital where she died at about 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Neighbours told our correspondent that Kolawole collected the corpse of his wife from the hospital and buried her inside his compound.

However, one of the neighbours alerted the Chairman of Community Development Association, CDA, Prince Gabriel B. Adebanjo who later informed the police at Ajuwon.

Kolawole was arrested and had since been detained for interrogation.

The Divisional Crime Officer, DCO, visited the scene of the alleged crime on Tuesday and yesterday to investigate the matter.

It was learnt that the late Wumi Kolawole had earlier reported her husband at the Ajuwon police station battering her.

The suspect, Kolawole was also reported to have threatened to kill his first son, Sunday when he was making peace between his parents before the scuffle eventually led to the death of the woman.

A police source at Ajuwon Police Division informed P.M.NEWS that plans have been concluded to exhume the corpse of the late Wumi for autopsy.

At the conclusion of police investigation, Femi Kolawole will be charged to court, our source further said.

Neighbours who spoke about the deceased described her as a gentle woman.

They blamed her husband for the frequent fights between the couple before the fight that led to her death on Tuesday.
