4 Face Trial For Stealing 12 Bottles Of Champagne

Four persons on Tuesday appeared before an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with stealing 12 bottles of champagne.

The accused person are Fakeye Seye, 28, Vitalis Chukuwa, 28, Oskar Othrugube, 27 and Jerry Joseph, 23, all residents of Mararaba in Nasarawa State.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Philips Akogwu, told the court that on October 29, Jerry Onah, a resident of Asokoro in Abuja reported the accused persons to the police.

He said that the accused and two others, who are now at large, conspired and stole 12 bottles of champagne belonging to their boss, Mr Ronald Ewubere.

Akogwu also said that the stolen items were intended to be used by Ewubere for his wife’s birthday party.

He said the accused were charged with joint act and theft, which contravened Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty and they were granted bail in the sum of N100,000 each and one surety each.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Okeagu Azubike, directed that all the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

He also adjourned the case to November 23 for further hearing.
