The 4th legislative council of Amuwo Odofin local government has been inaugurated by the Executive Chairman of the L.G., Comrade Ayodele Adewale in line with the provisions of the constitution.

The new councilors include, Kate Omolola Banjoko representing Ward A1, Ariyibi Olayiwola Ayodeji representing Ward A2, Alli-Macauly Kehinde representing Ward B1, and Anyanwu Nixon representing Ward B2.

Others are Adegbembo Adetayo Odunayo representing Ward C, Wasiu Bello representing Ward J, and Fagboyinbo Ayomikun Isaac representing Ward K.

While inaugurating the legislative council, the chairman admonished the new councilors to ensure that the interest of the people they represent overrides all other interests in the course of their duties.

He said, ‘’I must admonish you to always ensure that in all your dealings for the next three years, the people you represent must come first,

and must be an influencing factor in all your decision-making. This is the succinct definition of participatory and representative democracy.’’

Ayodele impressed it upon the councilors to use their constitutional powers properly as against invoking it as an instrument for distraction, in order to bring about the dividends of democracy to the people.

“I must also remind you that there is a conscious global paradigm shift from the reactionary posture of the legislature as a tool for distraction of the executive, to a more progressive image of the legislature as an active and supporting partner of the executive in developmental strides.
