A six storey building, known as NASCO building, has been gutted by fire at Apapa area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the incident took place at about 8.30 p.m. on Monday and was allegedly caused by an electrical fault.

It was gathered that some of the occupants switched on their electrical appliances and forgot to switch them off after close of work and when the PHCN restored electricity supply, it ignited the fire that razed the entire building.

An eyewitness, Mr. Sunday Okechukwu, said that immediately the fire started, firefighters were called upon and they responded promptly but their water was inadequate. Thus the fire raged till yesterday and the building was completely destroyed.

According to Sunday, the first floor was occupied by Finbank while other floors were occupied customs clearing agents.
