LG Boss Seeks Councillor’s Cooperation
Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Olatunde Babatunde Adepitan, has solicited the support of the newly elected councillors to enable him succeed in the task of governing the council.
He made the call during the oaths taking ceremony for councillors on Monday.
According to him, his administration during his first term in office was very successful because of the utmost cooperation he enjoyed from the legislators in its bid to provide basic social amenities in the council area.
He used the occasion to appeal to the electorate to vote Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the bye-election in Ward H, where the councillorship contest was declared oinconcusive by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
He also appealed to the Federal Government to review the revenue allocation formula in favour of the local governments because of the crucial roles they play as being the closest to the people.
He listed his achievement during his first term in office, especially in the area of education and the digital library, which he said is under construction, while promising to build a befitting secretariat to provide conducive working environment for council workers.
The chairman also promised to intensify on the consultation initiative which, he said, gave his administration opportunity to achieve greater success in the past, especially with traditional rulers, community development associations, cooperative organisations, market leaders, the youths and non-government organisations, among others.
He charged the councillors to choose a leader that they think can best manage their affairs for the next three years, while he did not forget to thank the councillors who could not make it to the new dispensation.
