Police Foil Robbery, Arrest 3 Suspects
The police at Elemoro Division, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have foiled a robbery attempt and arrested 3 suspected robbers.
P.M.NEWS learnt that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Elemoro Police Station, Mr. Cosmos Agwu(SP), received a distress call that about four armed robbers were robbing residents in a compound at Shapati Street in Elemoro area and he immediately mobilised his anti-robbery team and condoned off the whole area.
On sighting the police, the robbers were said to have opened fire and the police responded.
After a gun duel, three of the suspected robbers were arrested while the fourth escaped with gun wound.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the three suspects were then taken to the station where they made useful statements to the police who have intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing member of the gang.
Confirming the story, the Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu(DSP), said the three suspects have been transferred to the Lagos Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, for discreet investigation and appealed to members of the public to always assist the police with useful information. He promised that such informant will be kept a secret.
