She was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday in Edo State.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Uyigue Ibe announced this on Wednesday, 2 November, 2011 before adjourning sitting till Wednesday, 9 November, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that since the former speaker’s wife was kidnapped no information had been heard about her whereabouts.

Ibe urged those behind the “nefarious act” to have a rethink and release her, adding that the prayers of the House were with the former speaker and his family.

He called on all the security agencies to beef up security and put more machinery in motion to track down the kidnappers.

“Christmas is around the corner and these criminals will want to use the opportunity to engage in all sorts of nefarious activities, a lot of people are afraid of coming home for Christmas because of kidnapping.

“I implore the security agencies to please beef up security to make the state safe for the people.”
