Beach Volleyball: Nigeria Good To Make London Olympics

Coach of Nigeria’s male beach volleyball team, Musa Nimrod, has stated that the team, which qualified for the next round of the London Olympic qualifier in South Africa is capable of securing the final ticket for the Game.

Musa told 2muchsports.com that though they felt so bad that the female team could not secure qualification, he urged their fans to have faith in Nigeria Volleyball Federation as it strives to secure qualification for the male team.

“Nigerians should exercise patience. It was unfortunate that the women team couldn’t make it to South Africa. But I want to assure Nigerians that we will leave nothing to chance to ensure that the male team qualify for the Olympics.

“I am very sure of our qualification because we are second in Africa ranking. We lost our first ranking to South Africa in Maputo during the All Africa Games,” he said.

Nigerian male team made their qualification possible after beating the Burundi side in four straight sets to in the Confederation of Africa Beach Volleyball Continental and Olympic qualifiers in Abuja to book their place in the South Africa tournament.

The Nigerian team proved so difficult for their opponents when they ran away with a 21-20, 21-14, 21-19 and 21-15 thrashing of Burundi. Angola male team also booked a place in the final phase of the Olympic qualifiers after they beat Gambia in a four straight set match.
