Stop Heating Up The Polity, Lagos ACN Warns Lagos PDP

The Lagos State Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has warned Lagos PDP for the umpteenth time that it will no longer fold its arms and watch its members taking laws into their hands and heating up the polity in the metropolis all in the name of protest.

In a release signed by the Party’s Publicity Secretary Mr. Joe Igbokwe, the party says “since 22 October, 2011 Lagos PDP has been trying to provoke our teeming supporters to troop out and engage them one on one in the streets of Lagos, but we have always restrained them because we believe that two wrongs can never make a right.

“But it appears that Lagos PDP now thinks that civility on our part has become a sign of weakness. If this is the mindset of PDP Lagos as they terrorise Lagosians on a daily basis, we ask them to perish the thought.

“When PDP stole our mandates in Ekiti, Osun and Edo States, we did not resort to violence, we did not go to Oshogbo, Ado Ekiti and Benin to seize the government offices, and we did not harass anybody in those states. We did not threaten fire and brimstone. We went from one court to the other to seek redress. And it took us three years to get justice.

“Like the patient bird, we waited for three years. We assembled our facts and figures, we engaged, we dialogued, we did the road walk, we spent the money, time and energy, we paid the prices, we suffered humiliation, pains, agonies and even death in the hands of PDP nest of killers to get justice.”

The party further stated: “Now, the Lagos PDP can learn from ACN Ekiti, Osun and Edo examples. If Lagos PDP has sufficient and empirical evidences to show that they won any Council seat in Lagos , they know what to do. Gather your lawyers, assemble your facts and head to the Election Tribunals to prove your cases beyond reasonable doubts. If Lagos PDP cannot do this we advise them to hold their peace”

“On Sunday 23 October 2011 PDP Lagos claimed it won at least six council seats in Lagos . The following day it reduced to four. The other day the party Chairman in Lagos said they won at least two council seats. Now which one do you believe? Six, four or two? PDP Lagos must now embrace the power of critical thinking to address her problems. Telling lies cannot help them here. We pray that Lagos PDP will not compel us to join issues with them in the streets of Lagos to call their bluff.”
