Fashola Charges Lagosians To Embrace Peace

As Nigerian Muslims join their counterparts across the globe to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has called on Lagosians to rededicate themselves to making the State a model of peace and harmonious living.

In his Sallah message to the people, Governor Fashola said peace and harmony were necessary in order for residents to continue to enjoy the blessings of God which, according to him, “continue to abound in our communities”.

Governor Fashola, who said the period offered the people another opportunity to submit completely to the will of the Almighty Allah, declared, “The occasion is an opportunity to renew our interaction with our fellow human beings and most essentially our duties to our God. We must, therefore, reflect more on the reason for our creation and make moves to be closer to God.

“As Muslims savour the joy of the occasion across the globe, I urge you to demonstrate the spirit of tolerance, unity, love, forgiveness, compassion and peace that Islam epitomises.”

While wishing all Muslims in Nigeria and Lagos State “a very exciting celebration during this occasion of piety and sacrifice”, Governor Fashola further urged, “I implore us all as leaders and followers in our different stations in life to continue to hold on steadfastly to the tenets of hope, sacrifice and restoration as epitomised in the central message of Eid-el-Kabir.”
