Felony Charge: Ex-3 Wheelers Boss, Others Seek Out Of Court

A former chairman of the Three Wheelers Beneficiaries and Operators Association of Nigeria, TWBOAN, Mr. Joseph Odusanya and others who are currently facing a seven-count criminal charge at Yaba Magistrate’s Court, have pleaded for an out-of-court settlement.

Odusanya, 52, in suit B/28/38/2011 was alleged to have conspired with six others as well as others at large to commit felony to wit: attempted murder, grievous harm, assault occasioning harm and stealing, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 355 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State of Nigeria.

Charged along with the embattled ex-three wheelers boss are Bolaji Sulaimon, 41, Akeem Hammed, 44, Sesan Adekoya, 50, Taju Adebayo, 38, Ajikobi James, 41 and Lateef Sumaila, 31, while others were said to have gone underground.

At the commencement of the trial before Magistrate Demi Ajayi on Monday, the lawyer to the accused persons, Mr. Gani Bello, openly applied for an out- of-court settlement, promising to liaise with the applicant’s lawyer, Barrister Robert Gilbert, for proper documentation.

The magistrate adjourned the trial till 5 December, 2011.

It was gathered that the proposal of the defendants’ lawyer was not with the consent of the prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Nwadione.
