PDP Chieftain Calls For State Of Emergency In Security
Alhaji Abdullahi Bafarawa, a chieftain of the PDP in Sokoto State has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to declare a state of emergency in the security sector to safe guard lives and property of the citizens.
“The issue of bombing and the activities of militants posed a great threat to the survival of our nation’s nascent democracy.”
Bafarawa stressed that insecurity was a threat to the nation’s corporate existence.
“Mr President should as a matter of urgency set in motion comprehensive security network that would guarantee the safety of Nigerians.”
He said this could be made possible by ensuring the availability of essential working tools for the nation’s security outfits.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the country’s security officers to confront the security challenges facing the nation.
“I am very optimistic that security officers can handle the internal crises facing us but only if modern working tools were provided for them.
“Just provide all the basic requirements and see the best of them. Mr President should act now to save the country from disintegration through effective coordinated security network.”
Bafarawa also called on Nigerians to seek divine intervention for God to expose the people behind bombings in some parts of the country.
“Prayer is a weapon needed to bring the perpetrators to book.’’
He called on all Nigerians to come out with relevant information that could lead to the arrest of men of the underworld.
Bafarawa commended the Sokoto State Government for putting in place security mechanism that ensured peaceful sallah celebration.
He called on the people to continue to live in peace with one another to enable the state government to implement its laudable programmes for overall political growth.
