Anthony Tips Messiah For Abesan Cup

Chief Coach of Messiah Football Club, Ushurhe Anthony is confident that his team will win this years’ Abesan Cup.

He made this known when his team defeated Dynamics Football Club 2-0 in the last group match. The victory earned Messiah a place in the second round of the tournament.

Idowu Olorunsola and Okoli Okechukwu were a  delight to watch as both players scored one goal each to help Messiah qualified for the second round.The crucial game was played over the weekend at Teachers Training College, Ifako-Ijaiye, Alimosho.

Speaking after the pulsating encounter, Anthony boasted that having garnered seven points in three matches, his team have what it takes to be crowned champions in this year’s Abesan Cup.

“Having watched our three matches in the group stage, I can confidently say that we have what it takes to win the cup. My players are hungry for success. We have come a long way and we cannot afford to slip because we are now in knock out stage, whereby we need to keep on winning until we win the cup,” said Anthony, who praised his players for their brilliant performance in the group stage.

In the same vein, Team Manager of the club, Deji Beecroft,warned his players not to be complacent in their next match. He said his team can win the cup if they continue the way they played  in the group stage.

“We are now in a crucial stage where we cannot afford to make any mistake. The players are aware of the challenges ahead and they are ready to give their best so that our dream of winning the title can  come to reality,” he said.

Action will continue today at Isheri Primary School, Idimu when Shalom FC will battle Shooting, while Prostars FC will confront Jojo FC in the last match of the day.
