Eid: Lagosians Praise Fashola Over Free Bus Ride
Lagosians, especially Muslims, have commended the magnanimity of the state governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, for providing free bus ride during Eid-el Kabir festival, saying the kind gesture enabled them to visit their loved ones, while it saved them money they would have spent on transport.
Some of those who spoke with Lagos Bulletin on the Sallah day in Ajah, Obalende and Oshodi bus stops, praised the governor for the gesture, describing it as part of the dividends of democracy.
They also commended the National Leader of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for picking Fashola as his successor, despite all odds, noting that the governor has not disappointed the people.
Mrs. Yetunde Agboola, a Muslim and mother of five children, sho resides at Sangotedo, Ajah, said “I am going to Iyana Ipaja from Ajah with five children. Do you know how much I would have spent if not for the free bus ride provided by the state government? In Nigeria and even Western world, there is no government that has given its citizens free bus ride during festive periods, but Fashola’s administration has done that and we are happy about it.
“I am now appealing to all Lagosians to support the governor in prayers and also pay their taxes to enable him do more because it will be very difficult to get a governor like Babatunde Fashola.â€
Also commenting on the free bus ride at Oshodi, Mr. Segun Solanke, a resident of Ikorodu, said “we are only waiting for the governor to complete his tenure and contest for the presidency. All Lagosians and Nigerians will vote for him to win any election.
“With what he has done in Lagos State, I believe if he rules Nigeria, it will become one of the countries to be proud of.â€
