RTEAN Leader Arrested In Ijebu-Ode

If feelers from the police headquarters in Eleweeran, Abeokuta, Ogun State are anything to go by, the runaway leader of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Ijebu Ode, Alhaji Titilayo Akibu, a.k.a. Efele  has been arrested.

A top source at the police headquarters confided in P.M.NEWS that the RTEAN chieftain declared wanted last week appeared at a police station with his lawyer Tuesday and was arrested.

According to the source, ”the man came to our office yesterday with a man he identified as his lawyer. He was arrested immediately and detained.”

P.M.NEWS also gathered that a chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers,  NURTW, Alhaji Jimoh Mogaji, a.k.a. Aluji was also arrested and detained at the police headquarters.

The Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun last week proscribed the two transport unions in Ijebu-Ode following incessant clashes by members of the unions, leading to deaths.

During an unscheduled visit to the town, the governor also ordered the arrest of Alhaji Bashiru Yekeen, a.k.a. Aweda and Alhaji Osinowo Otto, chieftains of the unions.

P.M.NEWS also observed that the security measures put in place during the clashes were still in place in the town.
