Audu Promises To Reinstate Sacked Workers

The ACN candidate for the 3 December governorship election in Kogi, Prince Abubakar Audu, on Friday announced the opening of an office for the registration of  workers retrenched by the state government three years ago.

Audu stated this at the inauguration of his campaign committees in Lokoja.

He urged the 12,000 out of the 18,000 retrenched workers, who were not reconsidered during the staff audit of 2009, to report at the ACN office as from Friday, 11 November.

This, he said, was to enable him to reinstate them if elected.

He added that his government “would implement all ACN people-oriented policies and programmes.’’

He reiterated his commitment to providing free education, medical care, infrastructure development, water, employment and prompt payment of salaries and allowances of workers.

He alleged that the ruling party planned to rig the election and charged his supporters to constitute themselves into vanguard of change, resist any form of intimidation and defend their votes.

In his reaction, the Special Adviser to Governor Ibrahim Idris on Media, Malam  Zakari Adamu described the allegations as baseless, false alarm and a calculated attempt by the former governor to win sympathy of the people.

Zakari challenged the former governor to prove the allegation, adding that no matter the level of unfounded allegations against the party and his principal, PDP was poised to win the election.
