Bamigbetan Ascribes Success To Prayers
The chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, has stressed the importance of prayers as the key to success of any government.
He gave this assertion during Christian and Islamic prayer sessions held at the council secretariat to usher in his administration for a second term in office.
Bamigbetan, while speaking at the interdenominational service, said he discovered during his first term in office that the modest achievements he made in three years were possible as a result of prayers by religious leaders in the LCDA.
“In October 2008 when we first assumed office, we had the lofty idea of turning Ejigbo into a mini London, but we encountered many challenges and obstacles and if not for prayers, we would not have recorded any major achievement.
“Nobody believed we could provide free uniforms for 4,200 pupils in our public primary schools. Nobody also believed we could provide free meal for the pupils every Monday. We were able to provide these people-oriented services and many others through the power of prayers and I believe our decision to begin our second term in office under the umbrella of God is a right decision,” he said.
He called on religious leaders to use their closeness to God to pray for the success of his administration as he prepares to fulfil all the promises he made during his political campaign.
He said, “In the next three years, we hope to construct the Ejigbo-Ajao Estate link bridge and introduce water transportation system by launching a jetty in December from which people will be ferried from Ejigbo to Festac town and Lagos Island and also repair 30 major roads in the council.”
He stated that all the projects could only be accomplished with the support of God and the people, while urging religious leaders to use their spiritual ability to help remove obstacles that may stand against his success during his tenure in office.
