Banker’s Death: Court Summons Coroner, IPO
A Yaba Senior Magistrate’s Court today summoned the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Professor John Oladapo Obafunwa who was the pathologist that performed the autopsy on the slain banker, Mrs. Titilayo Arowolo.
Senior Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Olajuwon also ordered the Investigation Police Office, IPO, Supol Aghene of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, and Mrs. Toun Oyakhire, who reportedly saw the late Titilayo’s corpse to appear before the court on Friday, 18 November, 2011.
According to the court, the trio will give account of the late banker’s corpse on or about 24 June, 2011 when she was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband, Akolade Arowolo.
Meanwhile, in another murder case brought beforeMrs. Olajuwon, she ordered Corporal Wasiu Adesina, 35, to be remanded in Ikoyi Prison, Lagos till 14 December.
Adesina was docked in the court this morning for allegedlg killing a monarch, Oriyomi Jacobs Oke Bamigbelu, the traditional head of Bamigbelu near Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The charge against him reads: “That you, Wasiu, 35, on 10 November, 2011 at about 3:30 p.m. along Itoki road, Ikorodu in Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill Oriyomi Jacob Oke Bamigbelu by shooting him with a gun and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. ii, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.â€
Adesina pleaded not guilty, though his plea was not taken. He was ordered to be remanded at Ikoyi Prison, Lagos till 14 December, the next adjourned date.
