Benue Assembly Gets New Speaker
Following the removal of Hon Terhemen Tarzoor ,as the immediate past speaker of Benue State House of Assembly by the Court of Appeal , the House yesterday at a special sitting elected Barr. David Iorhemba representing Guma State Constituency as its new speaker.
Barr. Iorhemba’s election was unanimously endorsed by the 27 members of the assembly following his nomination by Hon. Kenneth Nyor representing Gwer West constituency.
In his acceptance speech, the new Speaker said he will spare no effort in discharging the enormous responsibility bestowed on him.
Iorhemba assured of his determination and commitment in upholding the virtues that will portray the House in good light and called for support and cooperation from members to carry out his duties effectively.
Barr. Iorhemba said his leadership will provide the enabling legislation for the executive to actualise its objectives for the benefit of Benue people.
“We will sustain the existing harmonious relationship with the executive to trigger healthy development of the stateâ€, he promised.
