MOU With NRC’ll Transform Osun — Aregbesola

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has expressed optimism that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) his administration signed with the Nigeria Railways Corporation (NRC) will assist in transforming the state economy.

He expressed this optimism while addressing members of the State Executive Council at a four-day retreat in Offa, Kwara State.

Aregbesola said the MOU was part of the strategies aimed at transforming the state economy in which there would be free freight of agricultural produce from Osun to Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NRC flagged off its Lagos-Ibadan-Ilorin Mass Transit Scheme en-route Osogbo on November 1.

Aregbesola noted that the facility had the capacity to draw people to Osun from different parts of the country, particularly the South-West.

The governor’s presentation on “Osun State Development Agenda” recalled that he had a pact with the people to address the problems of poverty, hunger, unemployment as well as promote healthy living and functional education. He explained that the pact included the promotion of communal peace and progress, which would enable his administration to transform the state to enviable height.

Aregbesola promised to establish a regional market for the South West in Dagbolu, among other development plans.

Dr. Goke Adegoroye, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, called for greater understanding between the civil servants and political office holders.

“The vision of any new administration may be difficult to realise when civil servants fail to see themselves as the delivery vehicle of government’s policies and programmes.”
