Security: PAC Members Urged To Assist Police, SSS
To confront the incessant security challenges in the country, the Police Assistance Committee (PAC), is strategising on how its members nationwide could liaise with the State Security Service (SSS) and the police for information gathering and dissemination to prevent and combat crime in the country.
At a national workshop in Lagos conducted for its national executive members comprising Chairmen, Secretaries and Public Relations Officers of Association of Tradesmen and Artisans, who constitute its grassrooot members, the Director-General of PAC, Dr. Martins Oni, enjoined members to see the present security situation in the country as a great challenge to every citizen and as such ensure that security agencies, particularly the SSS and the Police, are well assisted through vital information that could enable them combat and prevent crime in the country.
Oni directed the executive members of PAC who attended the workshop from all over the country to be in contact with all state and zonal offices of the SSS as well as Police state commands through on-line and verbal communication in the quest to pass useful information and intelligence gathering to the security agencies to assist in their operation to detect and prevent crime in the country.
Also speaking at the workshop, founder of United Berger Motors Dealers Association, Chief (Dr.) Sunday Akibor, enjoined members to maintain the secrecy policy of PAC in the process of gathering and disseminating information to the SSS, the police and other security agencies.
Other speakers at the workshop include Mr. Uzoh Vickson, chairman, Odunade Plumbing Dealers Association and Evangelist Sam Okpara, secretary, Ladipo Auto Dealers Association, who both pleaded with security agencies to always cooperate with the members when passing information that could assist them in their operations at this critical time.
