We’ll Tackle Boko Haram -Army Chief
Less than 24 hours after President Goodluck Jonathan assured the international business community that the Boko Haram menace will soon fade off, the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt .Gen Azubuike Ihejirika, has assured that security agencies have mapped out measures to tackle Boko Haram militants headlong.
The Army Chief stated this in Port Harcourt shortly after inaugurating the renovated officers’ mess of the 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.
Ihejirika said security agencies were aware of the threat by the sect to attack facilities in Abuja and other parts of the country and have taken proactive steps to forestall such attacks.
“The threat of Boko Haram attack on facilities in Abuja and elsewhere has been there for quite some time. The security agencies including the Nigerian Army are well aware and have also taken measures to forestall such,‘’ he said.
He said for security reasons, he will not disclose all the measures.
“That is why Nigerians were able to celebrate Sallah holiday in most parts of the north peacefully, except for isolated and unfortunate incidents,’’ he said.
