Super Eagles Performed Poorly -Fans
Some football fans in Lagos have said that the Super Eagles were undeserving of the 2-0 victory over the Chipolopolo of Zambia in a friendly match played on Tuesday in Kaduna.
The fans told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at a viewing centre in Ijegun area of Lagos that in spite of the win, the Super Eagles performed poorly.
NAN reports that the match was the second friendly game under Stephen Keshi as Super Eagles coach.
According to the fans, the Zambians played better but were unlucky not to win the match.
“The Super Eagles played without any form of direction and they kept losing ball possession.
“I do not know what to attribute their poor performance to because it is not the fault of the coach when players lose the ball often,†Yinka Ayadi, a businessman, said.
Ogbobine Rume, a graduate, said that the match showed the lack of commitment on the part of the players.
“Players in the team have at one time or the other shown a lacklustre attitude when in the national colours.
“And this because there is no competition getting team shirts.
“Keshi needs to look into this critically in order to boost the quality of play of the team,†Ogbobine said.
Another fan, Lateef Animashun, said that Nigeria lacked a team and should go back to the drawing board because their game against Zambia clearly showed that.
“We do not have a team in the crop of players that we have now and need to go back to the drawing board to raise a new team.
“However, the coach should be left to continue because his two games cannot be used to decide what he can bring to the team.
