Messiah Coach Rues Loss At Abesan Cup

Chief Coach of Messiah, Ushurhe Anthony has expressed shock after his team failed to go beyond the second round of the ongoing Abesan Cup.

Pro Star Football Club of Idimu defeated Messiah FC on 5-6 penalty shootouts after a barren draw at the regulation time in the second round match played last Sunday at Idimu-Isheri Primary School, Alimosho, Lagos.

Anthony attributed his  team’s defeat to a bad pitch and poor officiating.

Anthony who commended his team’s performance said they will go back home and prepare for Ikeja League which holds next month.

“We played our match on bad pitch which seriously contributed to our defeat. The officiating was not too impressive and I am a little bit disappointed because we have not reached our target,” he said.

He advised the organizers to play the remaining matches on good pitch saying that there are some teams who don’t play on bad pitch.

In the quarter final play today, MSI will face Prostar; Labro FC will battle Chicago FC while Oniru FC will take on Newstar FC at Isheri-Idimu Primay School.
