Panic As Two Tankers Exploded in Abuja
There was panic and pandemonium as two petroleum tankers exploded in two different areas on Wednesday. A tanker exploded as it was off loading products at a petrol station in Abuja while the second tanker exploded at an AP petrol station at the Garki area of the city.
The burning tankers sent thick black smoke into the air, arousing the interest of people who are even very far from the scene.
This led to rumours of another bomb blasts in the city. But the Police and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have confirmed that there was no bomb blast in the capital city. The two fire incidents were swiftly put under control.
There was no loss of lives, though NEMA confirmed that one person was seriously injured in the blast. Abuja residents have been on the edge following rumours that fundamentalist Islamic sect, Boko Haram is planning to attack the city.
The fundamentalist sect has already carried out two attacks in the capital city using suicide bombers.
