PDP: 5 Chairmen Endorse Bayelsa Ward Congress

Chairmen of PDP in five Local Government Areas of Bayelsa have endorsed the party’s Ward Congress held on November 14.

Spokesman for the group, Mr. Kuro Opuabere of Ogbia area told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the congress was conducted in free and fair manner.

Opuabere said 315 delegates from 105 wards of the eight local government areas of the state were elected.

He urged aggrieved members to channel their grievances through the appropriate panel rather than destabilise the party in the state.

Opuabere said the party’s Ward Congress Committee arrived in Bayelsa and duly conducted the 2011 ward congress for the election of three ad-hoc delegates per ward.

He further said that the committee met with State Working Committee, members of the State Executive Council, Returning Officers as well as other stakeholders of the party.

“The election materials were presented to the entire house by the panel’s Chairman, Muhammed Wakil, and duly acknowledged by all.

“What we witnessed was a smooth process and the available reports indicate the exercise was carried out under tight security and was free of any violence and rancour.’’

His other colleagues present were Messrs. Gagariga Binalayeta,  (Kolga), Cyril Sodoumowei, (Ekeremor), Okoringa Newyear, (Sagbama) and Ben Foreman, (Southern Ijaw).

Other PDP officials present were James Agari, State Secretary, Chamberlain Kren-Ikidi, State Financial Secretary, Mr Ene Ketebu, State Publicity Secretary, and Gesiye Isow, Party Leader.
