Shaggy FC Are Champions Of PWF Cup


Last Sunday  was a day  the fans of Shaggy FC will not forget in a hurry as their team emerged winners of the PWF Cup and went home with the sum of N500, 000 and a giant trophy.

Shaggy defeated Maryland FC 5-3 on penalty shootouts after the match ended in a two-all draw. The pulsating encounter was watched by a thousand spectators  at the FIFA Legacy football pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Ikechukwu Mba opened scoring in 32nd minute to silence the fans of shaggy who came in large numbers to cheer their team to victory. Shaggy quickly cancelled the goal when Seyi Ojomu got an equaliser before half time.

Both teams entertained the crowd with their skills in the second half before Ojomu scored the second goal in the 52th minute to send their fans into a wild jubilation.

Maryland FC were  not relentless as they piled pressure on their opponents before they got their equaliser in the 87th minutes to force the encounter into penalty shootouts.

Shaggy Team Manager, Dipo Obazur said it was a tough game but thank God that his team came out victorious. He commended his team for  being resilient throughout the encounter and  described them as worthy champions of PWF Cup.

“We deserve the victory. We have never lost in  the final of any football competition and  history has repeated itself today (Sunday),” he said.

Cup donor, Innocent Ogah commended the two finalists for their brilliant performance  and promised that the next edition of the championship will be more glamorous.
