Ajeromi Ifelodun Investing In Human Resources

Since his re-election in the 22 October local government polls, Kamal Abiodun Ayinde Bayewu, FCIB, chairman, Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area, Lagos , southwest Nigeria, has continued to reiterate his desire to execute capital projects that will be benefit the people of the council area.

The banker turned politician expressed happiness that he won the election despite all the noise and provocative attitude displayed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the local government, adding that his priority now is how to tackle the task ahead.

“We also have to think of the greater task ahead. As the saying goes it is easy to be a champion but harder to remain one. We are champions here, we must remain champions but we must work hard to remain champions. So to answer your question, I am thinking of how to improve on our past performance which has endeared us to the people and ensure that they continue to get the needed dividends of democracy even at their doorsteps,” the Ajeromi Ifelodun council boss said.

Speaking on the focus of his administration in the new dispensation, Bayewu stated that his administration will continue to improve on road rehabilitation and construction; development of education via improvement in facilities and incentives to teachers and pupils; improvement of the health sector via rehabilitation and construction of health centres, posts among others while also putting in place measures aimed at improving the welfare of workers.

“Very dear to us is the continuation of the aged people welfare programme in which over 250 aged people from the age of 70 and above collect N5,000 monthly since 2009. We started with 100 but the number has risen to over 250. This programme has earned us local and international recognition and commendation.

“We will not abandon it, rather we will improve on it. We will continue to build and rehabilitate roads, build, rehabilitate and maintain our public schools; build, maintain and equip our various health centres; put in place good welfare package for the staff; as well as improve other infrastructure,”he said.

He said that he would not fail to add that apart from the aforementioned programmes, his administration, this term, intends to work mainly on the improvement of the human resources that are abound in the council area.

“Ajegunle is host to various talents and we are committed to assisting the country in tapping these talents. There are various sporting talents in this local government area and don’t forget that this is the home of pure musical talents. This time around we are investing very much in these human resources with a view to bringing glory and honour to the local government in particular and the state and the country at large,”  Bayewu said with excitement.

According to him, his administration will commence the Ajegunle Carnival soon. “We will also establish a youth centre where youths can come not only to interact but also to learn because we are equipping this youth centre with computer sets and library.

“We also want to develop the music industry while we continue to develop the sports sector. We want to give the youths the chance and opportunity to develop on their own without depending on any one.

“I want to assure the people of this local government that we will continue to put in our best in ensuring that they enjoy the dividends of democracy. We will continue to put in place programmes and projects that will enhance the continued growth and development of this local government and improve the standard of living of its people,” he said.
