Police Arraign Driver For Stealing Employer’s N1.7million
A driver was on Friday charged before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing N1.7 million belonging to his employer, Mr. Emeka Ojukwu.
The accused, Sanni Haliu, 33, who is facing trial on a charge of stealing, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Corporal Samuel Ishola, told the court that the accused, between August 2010 and November, stole the money from Ojukwu, who is a trader.
Ishola said the alleged offence was committed at No 1042, Iponri Shopping Centre, Surulere.
“The accused had been selling crates of drinks and was not taking back the returns to his employer, Mr. Emeka Ojukwu, ” he said.
The prosecutor said the alleged offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The Senior Magistrate, Miss A. Tobi, admitted him to bail with conditions of two credible sureties with verifiable addresses.
She adjourned the case till December 20 for further hearing.
