Group Warns Amosun On NURTW New Exco

Sen. Ibikunle Amosun

A non- governmental organisation, Pacesetters Dynamic Club of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, southwest Nigeria  has warned the state government over the inclusion of the detained NURTW leader in the town, Alhaji Yekeen Bashiru, a.k.a.Aweda in the list of the newly-constituted executive members of the Union.

The group who rose from an emergency meeting Thursday evening in Ijebu Ode expressed dismay at the information in Ijebu Ode by some of the cronies of the detained Union leader that their boss has been included in the new executive members’ list.

Investigation by our correspondent revealed that there was a meeting held on Thursday in Abeokuta led by the new state Chairman of the Union, Alhaji Akeem Adeosun a.k.a, Jango where the names of would be executive members were discussed.

Our correspondent gathered from an inside source that 13 names were penciled down as the new executive members that will work with the new Chairman. According to the list which was made exclusively available to our correspondent, the detained Union leader, Aweda’s name was listed as a Trustee of the Union.

Other names on the list include, Olayinka Banjo, the former Treasurer under the past Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the Deputy Chairman, Jimoh Agbaje, Vice Chairman,Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin a.k.a. Iyeru, Treasurer,Jamiu Ilaro,Asst. Treasurer,Haruna Adekunjo, Asst.Sec.,Funmilayo Odugbose, Fin.Sec.,Dauda Akinwunmi,Org. Sec.,Ilyasu Ademola, Auditor 2, Gbolagade Adeniran, Trustee 2 and Folaji Dada, Trustee 3.

According to the Chairman of the group, Prince Kunle Adesanya, ” this should not be true,  anyone with criminal tendencies should not be part of the new NURTW Exco not somebody who since he became somebody in the motor park has turned Ijebu Ode to a war zone.

“We are appealing to Governor Ibikunle Amosun to intervene in the matter because we don’t want bloodshed in the town again. Aweda’s name should be removed from the list because he will now cause more trouble.

” Let the governor send his people to Ijebu Ode and see what Aweda boys are doing in the motor parks despite government proscription of Union in the town. They will be calling him in the cell and be reporting people to him, they will be boasting that when he comes back, they will kill some people. Should such a person be listed to represent Ijebu Ode in the list? They have many knowledgable people among them who can be used to replace him, he is not a good person at all.Nemesis is catching up with him now, some people now pity him. If Amosun want peace in Ijebu Ode, he should ban Aweda and Efele from Union In Ijebu Ode because his return to the motor park will be a fight to the finish with all the people of Ijebu not only the transporters alone”, the old man warned.

Our correspondent gathered this morning that some of his boys with the support of some mobile policemen were tormenting other people at the Oyingbo park which nearly turned to a bloodshed.

According to an eyewitness, “Infact, I don’t believe that we have government in this state, if we have, these touts will not turn themselves to idols or tin gods and be causing unrest all the time in the town. If you see the way the boys were wielding weapons this morning in the presence of some mobile policemen, you will agree with me that the government is lacking in Ijebu Ode. I heard some names like Sapa, Biola, Baba Kekere, Baboo and others there, I was in a bus going to Lagos then. The governor should help us to arrest all these boys to join their mentors in the cells;  it is then we can have peace in the town, anything short of that, Ijebu Ode may not know peace. Our problems are Aweda and Efele, let them remain with the police there. Imagine the last Ojude Oba festival being free and fair of any crises.”

A cross section of residents who spoke with our correspondent revealed that people can now sleep with their two eyes closed in the town since the boys were arrested.
