Panic Fuel Buying Hits Abuja Motorists

Abuja motorists have been gripped by a frenzy of panic buying as every one jostled for the premium motor spirit following late evening speculation that a scarcity of the product will hit the Federal capital city soon.

The presence of tankers discharging the product this evening at some filing stations visited by PM News did nothing to assuage the fear of motorists that the product will soon dry up at the stations.

At the Total and Conoil filing stations opposite the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, along Herbert Macauley way, Central Business District, tankers were seen discharging PMS into their underground storage tanks and the product were being discharged at many of the dispensing pumps.

No reason had been adduced to the tale of impending scarcity which gave rise to the panic buying by motorists. Very long queues were seen at both multinational oil companies’ filing stations as well as those operated by independent marketers within the Abuja metropolis.

At the NNPC Mega filing station, the queue stretched all the way to. Hally Brothers Bus stop within the Wuse zone 1 axis even though the product is being discharged from all the dispensing pumps.
