Nigeria Cricket Federation, NCF, has released the list of the team that will represent the country at the first Pepsi ICC-Africa T20 Women’s Championship.
The federation made public the names of 16 female cricketers that will represent Nigeria at the competition, which is scheduled to take place in Kampala, Uganda from 16-20 December.
Top in the list are Azeezat Adegboyega, who is the captain of the team, Onwujiobi Azuka is the assistant captain.
Others are Hannah Ayoka, Modupe Ashafa, Blessing Etim, Ruth Ayannaike, Victoria Eyo, Mosunmola Job, Adetutu Oludare, Rashidat Tijani, Adepeju Adetoro, Oluwaseun Awonusi, Rukayat Owolabi and Samantha Agazuma.
According to the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, COO, of the federation, George Wiltshire, Juliet Emeana and Chioma Ibe will be on standby.
P.M.Sports gathered that the team were chosen during a keenly contested trial at the TBS Oval, Race Course, Lagos Island on 17 & 18 November.
“Mrs. Bimbo Olushola–Sowoolu will be the Head of Delegation/Chaperon of the team to Uganda, while Okon Ukpong is the Team Manager and Joseph Eshua is the coach,†said Wiltshire.
Meanwhile, the Edo/Delta Cricket League continued at the weekend with No Limit Cricket Club defeated F 16 in a game played at the University of Benin cricket pitch, Benin, Edo State.
No limit won by 8 wickets. F16 won the toss and was elected to bat first. Defending champions, F16, scored 126 runs all out with Godwin Izekor of No Limit taking 4 wickets. No limit chased down the score (128) for the loss of 2 wickets. Top scorer was the opening batsman, Osasu Obasogie with an unbeaten 41 runs.
Next game is scheduled for Sunday, 27 November, when visiting Warri Cricket Club will be up against Western Cricket Club of Benin.
