Tragedy struck early this morning at the GRA, Benin residence of a female Biochemistry lecturer at the University of Benin, Edo State, Dr. Ekemini Aviomoh, when unknown gunmen killed her husband and eldest daughter.

The deceased, Richard Aviomoh was a retired staff of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture while her eldest daughter, identified as Mama was a student of the University of Benin.

The unidentified gunmen  reportedly came to the residence in the early hours of today and shot Aviomoh and his daughter dead.

The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Ejiroro Awarara confirmed the attack, adding that detectives from the state command had visited the home to assess the situation.

“We heard of the attack and we have visited the house to assess the situation. What we heard was that some unknown gunmen came to the residence and killed the man and his eldest daughter. We have started investigating the matter

“As at now we don’t have the details. We will release the details as soon as we have them,” the Edo State Police spokesman told P.M.NEWS.

Efforts to speak with the wife of the deceased, Dr. Ekemini on phone were unsuccessful.
