Bello Quadri Adeyemi is the Team Manger of Current FC of Oworoshoki. Adeyemi who has a diploma in coaching  speaks with GRASROOTS SOCCER GUIDE about the club success in recent times and other issues.

How would you assess your team against Imperial Academy in the semi final of Gbagada Mock Nations Cup played recently?

It was a tough match for my team but I thank God that we defeated them 2-0 to reach the final. We won the first edition of the tournament, but since then, we have not reached final.  I am happy that my team are playing in this year’s final.

You would be playing with Olope FC in final, what do you know about your opponents?

They are another tough team in the competition. I trained most of the players playing for Olope FC. I see a tough game ahead. I see both teams playing good football. But all I know is that my team are ready for the final.

Your team have also  booked a place in the second round of the ongoing Mamora Cup. Do your players have  what it takes to win the championship?

It is too early for me to tip my team for Mamora Cup title because there are other good teams that are taking part in the championship. Our first match against Grace FC was very impressive and I think we can go places in the tournament if the players continue  the way they played in their opening game.

Which team do you think can give you a problem in the ongoing Mamora Cup?

Lucky Babes FC of Yaba and Solomon FC are very strong teams in this tournament. If we meet one of these clubs in our matches, it will be a tough game but I am confident that we will beat them.

What are the challenges facing the club presently?

Our major challenge now is lack of sponsor. The club has been in existence for many years and up till now, we don’t have a sponsor.

Are you tired of sponsoring the club?

I never thought of disbanding the team. I will continue to struggle to keep the club moving. My target is to see Current FC play in the Nigeria Premier League someday.

We are now playing Akindele Cup to keep the players fit ahead of Gbagada Mock Nations Cup final and Lagos divisional league which starts this week.

When was the club formed?

The club was formed in 1989 with 30 players. The club has achieved a lot since its existence. We won Oba’s Cup in 1998 after we defeated Evergreen FC 5-2 on penalty shootout. We won Gbagada Mock Nations Cup in 1998.

The club has won  many laurels  that I cannot mention now.
