Scrabble: Players, Participants Commend Federation On AGM

The Annual General Meeting, AGM, of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation, NSF, may have come and gone but  the players  and other  participants at the meeting have commended the NSF for organising a top class AGM.

This year’s edition of  the NSF’s General Assembly  was held at the Savanna Suites Hotel in Gwarimpa, Abuja with a one-day workshop for players, trainers and administrators. The workshop enabled  players, coaches and administrators to build their capacity  in order to improve the game of scrabble in the country.

According to Toke Aka, president, NSF,  the workshop also helped to equip participants with the skills and techniques needed to bring excitement  back into  the game.

The workshop was conducted by a professional scrabble player who taught the participants scrabble skills and how to master the 2 letter words, way ahead for 3 and 4 letter words, 100 most probable 7 and 8 letter words, use of zyzzyva software, rack balance, front and rear hooks, vowel and consonant dumps, use of power tiles and many more aspects.

One of the innovations that made this year’s AGM robust and rewarding were the participation of 42 players in the National Inter-Club Championship.

The overall winning team went home with N150, 000 and giant trophy, the runners up bagged N100, 000 while the 3rd, 4th and 5th place finish smiled home with N50, 000 each for their efforts.
