Adefulire, Ogunlewe To Grace HOS Cup Finals

Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire and Head of Service, Adesegun Ogunlewe, along with other commissioners are expected to grace the finals of this year’s HOS Cup which holds on 15 December at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.

The final will be played between the Office of the Chief of Staff and  the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in the female category while the Ministry of Home Affairs and Culture will slug it out against Lagos State Judiciary in the male category.

In a chat with GSG on Tuesday, Assistant Director, Office of the Head of Service, Dele Balogun, said that letters of invitation have been to all the state permanent secretaries and other important personalities to grace the final.

He disclosed that the final ceremony will be officially declared open by Orelope Adefulire.

“It is going to be a glamorous and exciting final ceremony because we are expecting a full house. We are ready to stage a colourful closing ceremony and we are planning to bring more than 10,000 public servants to witness the competition come next Thursday,” he said.

Commenting on the tourney, Balogun noted that there is significant improvement in this year’s edition than previous ones.According to him, all the participating teams live up to expectations.

He commended the organisers and officials of the tournament and wished the finalists best of luck.

In the third place match played recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives defeated Lagos State House of Assembly 2-1 to clinch the bronze medal in the female category while the Health Service Commission walloped the Lagos State House of Assembly 4-1 in the male category.

Previous winners of the competition in the male category included the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Social Development, (2006), Ministry of Information and Strategy (2007), Lagos Television (2008), Lagos State Judiciary (2009) and Ministry of Transportation (2010).

In the female category, the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Social Development (2006), Office of Chief of Staff (2007), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (2009) and State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB)(2010)were past winners of the competition.
