A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Babatunde Lawrence Ayeni, has urged local council bosses in Lagos State to give their teams necessary support in the ongoing Lagos State Speaker’s Cup.
Ayeni said he observed that not all the council bosses supported their teams which resulted to their early exit in the competition.
He said despite his effort, some council bosses did not provide necessary support for their teams to excel in their opening matches.
“There are some teams who came to this competition without the support of the council officials. Such teams cannot do well because they were not motivated. I expected all the council bosses to be fully involved in this championship but only a few of them supported the championship,†he said.
Ayeni, who doubles as chairman, Organising Committee of the competition expressed satisfaction with the spirit of sportsmanship the teams displayed throughout the tournament.
He said the standard of play, officiating and organisation of this year’s edition were impressive.
“I am impressed with the matches I watched so far, some players gave a good account of themselves and I am looking forward to exciting matches in the second round,†he said.
