The much-awaited Seven A-Side Ikeja Challenge Cup will kick off on 10 December at Adeniyi Jones Primary School, Ikeja.
Eighteen Wards within Ikeja LG are expected to take part in the three week-championship. The tourney will also take place in Opebi Primary School and Ogba Primary School.
Managing Director of Adsense Media Services, Tayo Aderinola, told GSG that 12 wards in Ikeja Local Government Area, have registered for the tourney. He said the draws ceremony will hold next Wednesday.
Aderionla, a Business Administration graduate from the University of Lagos, said the objective of the tournament is to discover talents and harness the potentials of youth within the council.
He said the tourney was put together to help reduce crime through vocational sports in the community.
“Presently, 12 wards have submitted their registration forms, so we are expecting six more wards to register for the tourney.
“We are planning to organise the competition in a way that would attract corporate bodies,†he said.
He charged the participating teams to see the tourney as a social interaction and shun social vices that can bring disrepute to the competition.
