A self-acclaimed major serving in the Nigerian Army, Jeremian Garba has been arraigned before the Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court, Isabo, Abeokuta for stealing letter head papers of former President Olusegun Obasanjo from his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta.
Jeremiah, 36 was arraigned on aÂ four-count charge of stealing and impersonation.
He was accused of stealing the said letter head paper on 24 October, 2011 and using it to write the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin for university admission for one Lawson Oluwasanu Funsho.
He was also accused of parading himself as a serving major in the Nigerian Army. The four-count charge was read to the accused and he pleaded not guilty.
Delivering its ruling on the bail application filed before it by counsel to the accused, the presiding magistrate, K.M. Peters granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties who must have properties worth N100,000 each.
The case has since been adjourned till 12 January, 2012 for further hearing.
